Basic Food Hygiene
This is the nationally recognised Accredited Basic Food Hygiene course, which is required for employees of the catering industry.
It is a one day course and involves a multiple choice test at the end. The course is backed by an accredited certificate, recognising the participant's achievements and attendance.
The course promotes the awareness of illnesses that can be caused by unsafe kitchen practices and how to safely prepare and store food. It covers food hygiene and safety relevant to home and work situations.
The aims of the course are:
- To promote food hygiene and safety relevant in day to day living and kitchens at home and at work.
- To provide infomration about the safe storage and preparation of food.
- To raise participant's knowledge of illnesses that can be caused by unsafe practice within a kitchen.
- To give participants techniques of safe practice and how to avoid illnesses.
This course will be considered as part of a completed programme of resettlement, and may be used as a module of a higher Certificate in Healthy Living and also Back to Work.
