Basic Cookery Workshop

This course aims to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge for them to manage a healthy and balanced diet whilst living in their accommodation.

The course includes areas such as budgeting for food shopping on benefits, creating easy meals for an individual and managing your kitchen in order to keep a balanced diet.

The course will also cover issues as food hygiene and kitchen safety. The Peasholme Centre aslo offers access to accredited Food Hygiene training facilitated by an outside trainer with a three year certificate.

The course will run over a six week period. Individuals will have a place on the course for six consecutive weeks, on a specific afternoon. At the end of this course, individuals will receive a portfolio of the recipes and work completed for them to take with them.

The course comprises of:

  1. Week 1 - Breakfast/Assessment
  2. Week 2 - Potato Dishes/Chips
  3. Week 3 - Pasta/Rice/Stir Fry
  4. Week 4 - Stews/Casseroles
  5. Week 5 - Baking/Puddings
  6. Week 6 - Store Cupboard Meal

This course will be considered as part of a completed programme of resettlement, and may be used as a module of a higher Certificate in Healthy Living.
