Money Management

This course aims to provide individuals with relevant and useful financial information relating to the successful management of their own tenancy.

The course is divided into four sections providing information, advice and guidance on money management in a supported group setting.

The course focuses in detail on areas such as bill paying, arrears management, benefits and general living expenses with a clear focus on personal responsibility.

It also looks at options available to individuals within their own tenancies to manage their bill paying with pros and cons of each choice.

The course is run in an interactive manner with course participants being expected to partake in the group.

Aims Of The Course

  1. To highlight people's responsibility with benefits and to encourage them to monitor their own claims and overcome problems.
  2. To look at why arrears should be avoided and how to deal with them should they occur, with an emphasis on how to maintain a tenancy whilst dealing with arrears.
  3. To show people the cost of bills and identify payment options in their own tenancy.
  4. To indentify how to budget in a tenancy and to encourage people to look at ways to prepare for this.
  5. To complete a personal budget plan and look at ways to maximise income.

This course will be considered as part of a completed programme of resettlement, and may be used as module of a higher certificate in Effective Tenancy Management
