Resettlement Centre

The Peasholme Resettlement Centre

The Resettlement Centre York is managed by the Peasholme Charity. The City of York Council run an emergency night hostel from the same building. Both staff teams work closely together to provide a 24 hour service for single homeless men and women who live in the 22 bed hostel.

The Resettlement Centre staff also work with other clients who are homeless or in temporary accommodation to assist them in preparing for and securing their own tenancy.

Clients wishing to use our service must have an initial assessment interview to ascertain their needs and what we can offer them. Our clients must have a local connection to York as defined by Housing Law.

We are open 7 days a week. Hostel residents have access all day; our other clients can use the facilities between 12 noon and 2pm for 'drop in' services, and at other times by arrangement for planned activities. 'Drop in' services include access to television lounge, a shower or bath. Resettlement services include one-to-one planned support from Key worker, advice and referral to specialist agencies, and a programme of group activities, both social and educational.

We work closely with other agencies such as PMS medical team, Compass drugs resource team, and Future Prospects (access to education and employment) in order to provide an integrated service.
