On Thursday 1 April 2021 the Peasholme Charity team are partnering with CEO Sleepout UK to take part in a National fundraising event – The Big Easter Sleepout’, at home! – to raise awareness and vital funds to tackle homelessness in York.

We will be joining people across the country who are giving up warm beds and spending the night ‘sleeping out’ to gain some insight into what people without a home go through every single day and night.

We’re asking our supporters to join us – it’s not too late – you can sleep in a tent, on the sofa or on the kitchen floor – inside or outside – as long as it’s somewhere safe!

Peasholme Charity Manager Yvonne, said “We’re delighted to be supporting the CEO Sleepout this year – to raise awareness and vital funds – so that we can continue our fight to end homelessness locally.”  

“Homelessness is very real in York – it’s not just sleeping on the streets – it’s being forced to stay with friends when there is nowhere else to go, sleeping on sofa’s and floors, in crowded or dangerous housing or in cars. The end of the eviction ban and the end of the Universal Credit uplift may see many local individuals and families unable to cope and ending up without a home. We just want to do something to help local people in need and are asking our supporters to do the same – just for one night!”

There will be a zoom call on the night that you can join if would like to take part and don’t forget to let us know you’re joining us – tag us in your photos so that we can share across our social media pages.
