Who can access your services?

Our services are available to anyone living in the York area who is facing hardship or crisis. We particularly support individuals who are experiencing financial difficulties, homelessness, or social exclusion.

You can contact us by phone at 01904 466866, by email at [email protected], or by visiting one of our community drop-in locations here. We also have an online contact form on our website for your convenience.

No, appointments are not required for drop-in sessions. You can simply visit us during our designated times at various community hubs across York. However, if you require more in-depth, one-on-one support, you can schedule an appointment with one of our coaches or advisors.

If you are facing financial hardship, homelessness, or social exclusion, you are welcome to reach out to us for help. We work with individuals regardless of their background, and our services are designed to support you through your specific situation.

No, all our services are completely free of charge. We rely on donations and community support to continue aiding those in need.

Donations can be made quickly and securely through our website. You can choose to make a one-off or recurring donation to help fund our vital services. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference in supporting individuals in York.

We collaborate closely with local services such as York Foodbank, debt advisory services, and housing support organisations. These partnerships ensure that our clients receive comprehensive, holistic support across all aspects of their well-being.

How can I volunteer with Peasholme Charity?

We welcome volunteers to help with a range of activities, from fundraising events, marketing to providing administrative assistance. Volunteers are essential to the success of our charity, and we provide training and ongoing support.

Yes, we are always open to partnering with local businesses, organisations, and service providers. If you are interested in collaborating with us, please get in touch via our contact page to explore partnership opportunities.

Your donation directly supports individuals facing hardship in York. For example:

  • £10 provides bus fares for two clients to attend essential support sessions.
  • £25 provides a foodbank referral and one-to-one advice session.
  • £50 helps fund a full advice session with follow-up support, helping someone move toward long-term stability.

Every contribution goes towards helping someone rebuild their life. [link]

Currently, we primarily accept monetary donations to fund our services. If you would like to contribute in another way, such as through food or essential items, please contact us to discuss how you can help. Please note that we cannot store furniture or large donations.

Currently, Peasholme Charity does not have a dedicated housing team or service to directly match individuals with accommodation. However, we can offer practical support in other areas related to housing. This includes:

  • Communicating with landlords: We can assist in facilitating communication with your landlord to address concerns or resolve issues.
  • Furniture support: If you’re in need of basic furniture, we may be able to offer guidance or connect you with organisations that provide this support.
  • Bill arrears: We can help you navigate housing-related financial challenges, including assistance with bill arrears.

We are excited to announce that we are working on launching the Next Steps project soon, which will provide housing advocacy and support for those facing homelessness or housing instability. This project aims to help individuals navigate the housing system, secure stable accommodation, and connect with relevant housing services.

In the meantime, if you’re facing housing issues, please reach out, and we can connect you with the most appropriate services or offer support in any way we can.

Peasholme Charity does not provide specialised debt advice as we are not trained to offer detailed financial debt management services. However, we can refer you to trusted organizations such as StepChange and Citizens Advice that offer expert advice and support for managing and resolving debt-related issues.

If you’re struggling with debt, please get in touch with us, and we will help you identify the right professionals to guide you through your options.
